The patches in this gallery are part of the more than 7000 patches in my personal collection. Many of them may be obtained from the businesses and individuals on the list of sources and collectors found on this site. Occasionally, I get a duplicate to trade.
For each patch, the following information is provided when it is known: unit designation, further patch description (where applicable), base of assignment, translations of non-English mottoes, and any applicable notes.
UNIT DESIGNATIONS: Patches received directly from a unit reflect the designation at the time they were obtained. For patches purchased or traded, the unit designation is based upon research conducted and/or assistance from other collectors. In some cases, the patch may have been used under several designations and is indicated where known.
OFFICIAL USAF LINEAGE & HONORS: For many of the patches in the gallery, official USAF lineage and honors information for a unit is available by clicking on the unit designation. Clicking on the unit designation will take you to the Air Force Historical Research Agency Organizational History Branch which provides the appropriate lineage and honors file. Currently, only lineage and honors from the Air Force Historical Research Agency website are available.
BASES/STATION: Patches received directly from a unit reflect the base at the time they were obtained. For patches purchased or traded, the base is based upon research conducted and/or assistance from other collectors. In some cases, the patch may have been used at several locations and is indicated. For deployed units, the deployed location is used whenever known.
TRANSLATIONS: Translations reflect the approved Air Force translation wherever possible. In some cases the approved translation may not be the literal translation.
