Information Collection & Use

Registration

You can access USAFPatches.com and browse portions of the site without disclosing your personal data. In order to use the chat, forum and patch gallery features of USAFPatches.com, you must first complete the registration form and create a user name and password. During registration you are required to give your e-mail address. Users may choose whether or not to make their individual e-mail address available to registered users.

Based upon the e-mail address provided upon registration, we will send you a welcoming e-mail to verify your username, password and e-mail. We will also use this e-mail address to communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to manage your account, and to provide service-related announcements on the occasions when it is necessary to do so (e.g. - to notify you of planned or unplanned maintenance). You may not opt-out of these communications, which are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option to deactivate your user account.

Profile

You have the option to provide additional information about yourself by editing your user profile. Please be aware that information contained in your user profile (e.g. -- instant messaging usernames and your signature) may be visible to registered users when you post messages to the forum. Viewing of your detailed profile information is restricted only to the USAFPatches.com Webmaster.

We use any information voluntarily given by our users to enhance their experience on this website, whether to provide interactive or personalized elements on the sites or to better prepare future content based on the interests of our users.

Usage Tracking

USAFPatches.com tracks user traffic patterns throughout the website. As is true of most web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, host name, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system and date/time stamp data. This routinely compiled data is not tied to personally identifiable information.

In addition to this routinely compiled data, additional statistics are collected on registered users when they visit the forum, chat or the patch gallery. This includes your IP address and host name. These additional statistics are tied to personally identifiable information. Registered users can see some of information collected by viewing the "Show Stats" link under your user profile.

We use this all of this information to analyze trends, to administer the site, to enforce the terms of user agreements, to track users' movements around the site, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user's computer for record-keeping purposes. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies on this web site. We use session cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our site. A session ID cookie does not contain any personally identifiable information and expires when you close your browser. We set a persistent cookie to keep registered users logged-in to the forums, chat, and the patch gallery. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for a period of time selected by the user during log-in. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your Internet browser's "help" file.

You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. If you reject cookies, you may still use our site, but your ability to use some areas of our site, such as chat, forums or the gallery will be limited.

Forum/Chat Rooms

If you use the forum or chat feature of this site, you should be aware that any personally identifiable information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other users of these services, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these forums. All chats conversations are logged to prevent misuse of the chat feature.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We DO NOT share any personally identifiable information with third parties. We do not keep or distribute lists of e-mail addresses to any third parties.

We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights; to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our website; and/or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public.

Children's Privacy Policy

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") requires that we inform parents and legal guardians about how we collect, use, and disclose personal information from children under 13 years of age; and that we obtain the consent of parents and guardians in order for children under 13 years of age to use certain features of our web site. We encourage parents of children under 13 to regularly check and monitor their children's use of e-mail and other activities on line.

This website is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do NOT knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age without parental consent as part of this web site. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received personally identifiable information from a registered user under 13 years of age, we will delete such information from our records. We screen register users who wish to provide personal information in order to prevent registered users under 13 years of age from providing such information. For users under the age of thirteen, we will obtain prior, verifiable parental consent before collecting any personally identifiable information. Parents or guardians must submit written consent before their child's registration will be processed. If consent is not received within 14 days of registration, the child's account will be deleted. Once a parent consents to a child's registration, the child will be able to enter future registration-based areas of the website without any further notification to the parent.
